Safety Policy Overview

It is the policy of CDI to provide safe and healthful working conditions at our construction job sites and to comply with all Federal, State and Local laws, rules and regulations as mandated which pertain to the safety and health of our employees

Realizing that injuries and property damage by accidents and fire are preventable, our employees are expected to follow all acceptable safe work rules and regulations and are also expected to develop a concern for the safety of others as well as themselves.

We further subscribe to these safety principles:
  • Nothing we do is worth getting someone injured.
  • Safety can and must be managed.
  • Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
  • Working safely is a condition of employment.

  • All levels of management are charged with the responsibility of providing the motivation and leadership necessary to keep this safety policy in affect.

    Authority & Responsibility

The CDI executive staff has directed all levels of management to actively promote and support our safety program.  Project Managers empower supervisors with this responsibility and give them the authority to stop any unsafe work practice.  Each craft person is instructed to refuse to perform work in unsafe conditions and to stop work immediately and report the unsafe condition to their supervisor.

We will have the total commitment of all employees and subcontractors to our Quality Safety Process which will make our company a leader in Construction Safety.

    CDI Safety Goals

CDI’s long-term goal is to achieve a ZERO incidence rate.  Our company subscribes to the philosophy that this is achievable.  Our current year short-term goal is to achieve an ORIR of less than 1.2 and an LIR rate of less than .50.

    Enforcement of Rules

Each manager and supervisor is responsible for monitoring the work habits of their employees to   ensure that they are working in a safe manner.  Managers and Supervisors are trained to use observation techniques to discover unsafe acts and unsafe conditions while personnel are performing work.

A program of progressive discipline is administered to those personnel who operate outside our safety guidelines.  This discipline consists of verbal reprimands up to and including termination of employment.
